So, at Alex's 18-month checkup, the doctor asked if he said two words together. At that point, his vocabulary included "sit down", "get down", "stand up", "all done", and phrases like that. We gave those examples and the doctor seemed satisfied. Both Jamie and I really didn't think that those should count, however. As far as he is concerned, those could just be two-syllable words like "mommy" and "daddy". Well, it didn't take him long to step up his game. As we were dropping him off at day care, he turned to me and said "bye bye, daddy". Well, that certainly counts. He's since added, "thank you, daddy" and "night night, daddy" to his arsenal.
